EA announces Need for Speed Payback
Electronic Arts has unveiled the next major entry in its Need for Speed racing franchise: Need for Speed Payback.
Need for Speed Payback is being developed by Ghost Games, the same development team that was behind the 2015 Need for Speed reboot game and 2013’s Need for Speed Rivals. Payback will feature a story campaign in which players control three different protagonists; a racer named Tyler, a driver named Jess, and a mechanic named Mac, as they seek revenge against a criminal organization known as The House. In addition to being fully playable offline, Payback’s story campaign will also naturally include extensive car customization, as well as a large open world for players to explore.
A November 10 release date has been confirmed for Need for Speed Payback. Those who pre-order the game for any of its available platforms (Xbox One, PS4, and PC) will receive the Platinum Car DLC Pack, which includes five unique vehicles and the Platinum Blue Tire Smoke upgrade. If you spring for Payback’s $79.99 Deluxe edition, you’ll receive the High Roller story mission pack and three days early access (starting on November 7) in addition to the pre-order bonuses. EA Access and Origin Access subscribers will also be able to try out Need for Speed Payback courtesy of a Play First Trial that will be available on November 2.
